Welcome to the world of RevOps After Dark, where we get STRAIGHT to the revenue news you (hopefully, probably) wanna know, adding in just a bit of that Rattle-brand wit.
This week, we dive into:
- CUSTOBOTS ASSEMBLE!
- Seriously, custobots?
- Yeah. Custobots.
Let’s talk Ops.
Tools & Software News
☕️ Gartner: We’re all gonna grind those A.I. beans one way or another
Speaking at their IT Xpo in Orlando, Gartner says the explo A.I. will blow the roof off of processes and decision-making for the vast majority of companies in the world. Their analyses predict that by 2025, gen A.I. will be a workforce partner for 90% of organizations worldwide — making A.I. about as prevalent as a breakroom coffee maker in about a year’s time (not inspiring confidence that all these people will learn how to use A.I., when it seems impossible to get a passable cup of joe, amiright).
🤖 Oh wait I’m actually not done: There’s a thing called custobots coming, too
You’re unprepared as an org, yet? Well, there’s more from Gartner. I just wanted to be dramatic. By 2028, they also suggested this week that machine customers (AKA… "custobots”) (which, get this, is not a term for how eclairs are made) will play a significant role, potentially outpacing the significance of e-commerce itself. Certainly begs the question: How will GTM handle selling to custobots? NGL, whoever figures that out first will probably be the first human to make a trillion dollars.
🦉 Germane! Seattle-based startup wants to become Duolingo of A.I.
Speaking of coffee and anxiety and A.I… Seattle-based startup AI LaMo seemingly wants to become the Duolingo of the A.I. revolution. Not a shabby idea. Their new mobile app offers prompt writing games, quizzes, and challenges, aimed to be more engaging than platforms like LinkedIn Learning and Coursera by using everybody’s favorite sexy word from 2015: “gamification.” The app targets professionals from various fields (like you and me, no doubt), provides skill-specific courses and charges a pretty reasonable $29/month for unlimited content, while also allowing users to earn "chips" for more access. Now maybe it can teach me how to make pictures where the hands don’t give me nightmares.
📆 You’ve Been Invited to An Event: “An A.I. calendar tool that maybe doesn’t suck”
This week, Cal.com introduced Cal.ai, a tool that’s designed to simplify scheduling and appointment management with the stated rather ambitious goal of connecting 1 billion folks by 2031. This A.I.-based addition to Cal.com basically streamlines calendar planning by reducing manual inputs (something we like very much around here). Basically, users forward calendar based stuff to a unique email and your A.I. assistant takes care of the rest. It’s honestly pretty slick.
Strategy & Tactics
💣 New leadership? Sigh. Time to tear it all down again, right? Well… maybe not.
Friend of the brand, Joe LaGrutta, has some ideas on how to negotiate this most-prickly times of transition…
🤓 Nerd alert: Just a great thread on SFDC moving from profiles to permission sets
This Reddit discussion in the Salesforce subreddit revolves around the platform's transition from profiles to permission sets. The best recommendation being to build a basic profile with minimal access and utilize permission sets for specific features or functions. The thread that delves into the capabilities of Dynamic Forms and Dynamic Actions is very handy one, especially for you Ops junkies out there looking for your fix of flexibility and user-friendliness. The whole exchange provides some pretty value insights for RevOps pros navigating Salesforce's ever-ever-ever-ever-changing landscape.
A Good Read
😱 Gen Z’s kryptonite: Phones!
Like it or not, the hip “kids” of today are buyers of the future. And a newly released study says that Gen Z hates getting calls (they, historically, also aren’t so keen on email either). A recently study found that 25% of Gen Z adults actively avoid phone calls, with 60% ignoring calls even from their parents. (Cold, Gen Z. That’s your mother!) The survey, conducted on 1,000 adults aged 18-25 by Sky Mobile, revealed that a whopping 73% prefer messaging apps like WhatsApp, iMessage, or Snapchat over the phone. Not to get too parental ourselves… RevOps… it may be time to consider adjusting your outreach strategies to better align with these new communication habits. Or erm… lack thereof.
You can read The Sun’s take on the study here.
