Welcome to the world of RevOps After Dark, where we get STRAIGHT to the revenue news you (hopefully, probably) wanna know, adding in just a touch of that Rattle-brand overmuch.
This week, we dive into:
- Simplicity is the new… uh… thing!
- Go, go Hyperforce Rangers! 🤔
- The future of the "social" Internet may be “the Pluriverse."
- And much, much more.
Let’s talk Ops!
Tools & Software News
😭 Loom: Bought by Atlassian (AKA “RIP forever, Loom”)
Today, the Australian enterprise beast and ostensibly biggest new fans of yarn on the planet, Atlassian, acquired the async video messaging service Loom for a cool $975 million. In the press release, leaders at the company cited Loom’s user base of 25 million (wow really?) as a valuable asset for weaving collaboration into their Jira and Confluence platforms. (We just wanted to add: Damn. We’ll miss you, Loom.)
🤳 Text-to-Buy is Here and We’re Toot-Toot All On-board
We hate to fandino TOO TOO hard here (especially when it’s for zero money and it's a B2C use case), but we were introduced to this new Shopify integration yesterday and it is — mark our Millennial words as sincerely as possible here — dope as hell. If we were in B2C land we’d be all over this. Basically: once you get the credit card, address, and phone number of a customer, you can text them stuff like “Hey, wanna buy more of my X product?” And all they have to do is reply YES and that makes the sale. Talk about smooth. Does make us wonder on the B2B side: Can you grease the funnel so much that it feels too slippery? Time will tell!
🧠 IBM: Don’t Know A.I.? We Gotchu, Boo
Everybody’s favorite gigantic, scarily competent megacorporation, IBM, has taken it upon itself to awaken as the Kraken and address the already scarily wide global skills gap in artificial intelligence by committing to train 2 million folks in the technology by the end of 2026. (Which by then, may have already enslaved humanity.) Not scarily though: the company recently announced that they’d put a particular emphasis on reaching underrepresented communities through the online trainings and educational partnerships like those on their already-free learning platform, SkillsBuild, which already offers over 1,000 courses that nobody seems to ever talk about or use or even know about.
⚡️Simplicity good?!?!
Whether the world is getting dumber, noisier, or just more complex — or some obvious combination of the three — is still (arguably) up for debate. But one thing that’s not: Customers are thirsty for simplicity. The design firm Siegel+Gale recently released their “World’s Simplest Brands” report and while they never non-squishily define what “simple” even means (e.g. one dino’s “easy to understand” is another dino’s “Me 2 dum-dum 4 understand”), there are some nuggets of wisdom in there. The most interesting bit: 64% of the 15K respondents said they’re willing to pay more for a simpler experience, and a whopping 78% are more likely to recommend a brand for its simpler experiences and communication style. Another fun thing to note: The United States Postal Service made the U.S. top 10. NGL “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night” is still pretty catchy.

💪 The ROI of RevOps: A (Beefy) Gym Analogy
We frequently point to RevOps guru, friend-of-the-brand, and noted bodybuilder Eddie Reynolds but this week, he really outdid himself with a metaphor we’re going to include verbatim below, where he likens the ROI of RevOps to fitness results in a gym. The major difference we wanted to point out: unlike the gym, if RevOps is making you short of breath, you’re not bad at it, you’re just really out of shape and should consult a doctor fast.
👶 Save the Orphan (Opps)!
Salesforce data hygiene mishaps are never fun, but they’re especially not when a whopping 6-figure deal slips through the cracks because an opportunity got orphaned in the chaos post an employee’s grand Half-Baked exit.
But according to Jeremy Steinbring, founder of RevOnyx and newcomer to RevOps After Dark inclusion, in this post: “Build an inactive user report for each of the following objects today: Accounts, Contacts, Leads & Opportunities. You might be surprised at what you find.” (Or better yet, send actionable alerts to Slack/Teams when an opp falls inactive via us, Rattle) (Sorry, we had to).
🤯 For the SFDC Devs: Hyperforce Explained
Seeing a lot of Hyperforce content lately? You’re not alone. The Reddit community recently rallied around a genuine question: What is this damn thing, exactly? Well, first: it’s not just a Power Rangers spinoff: Hyperforce represents a major backend overhaul in Salesforce's infrastructure, migrating data processing and storage to oft-cited “more robust and scalable” AWS servers. But not unlike any other major backend overhaul, the move that necessitates major planning and major migration efforts from Admins, Devs, and Org Owners due to potential challenges and modifications, particularly in enterprises with a lot of customization. (And if you’re at a huge enterprise and NOT customizing your SF instance, are you really even living?)
A Good Read
🌎 What Will Replace Social Media? The Pluriverse, Of Course!
According to Shubham Agarwal writing on Insider, the fragmentation and decentralization of social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter (or whatever it’s called now) present a new horizon for digital interactions, providing users an escape from the ugly, noisy, no-good ad-choked environments of large-scale networks to more intimate, specialized platforms, thus creating a "pluriverse" of online social experiences. We think it’s fairly easy to see how this … let’s call it “splintering" will present a challenge for revenue professionals to navigate through a myriad of platforms, each with unique audience behaviors and communication norms, necessitating a more targeted, adaptable, and platform-specific approach in both the implementation of revenue strategies and customer engagement. (Mark my words, events and heavily moderated communities will become much more important in the coming years, especially with the rise in A.I.)
The Ad-hoc
📺 Teens: YT Over Netflix, Bruh (Do They Still Say Bruh?)
Not surprisingly enough for anybody with, ya know… a child… of any age.. Youtube has apparently overtaken Netflix for the younger generations in terms of where they spend their time. Of course, YouTube is a free constant stream of new content and in small, digestible bites and Netflix charges money, but this may just be because kids can't sit still long enough to get hooked on a Netflix series, much less sit and watch a 90-120 minute movie. Blippi, though. He's still big in this house.
Meme of the Week
This one comes from Jordan Henderson. The campfire is a lovely touch.
